Cityhost July Update 2024

new

We continue to update and enhance our services' functionality to make it easier and more convenient for you to develop your projects. Here are the latest updates we've implemented.

Added new Node.js versions

Now, the newest Node.js versions – 18.20.3, 20.15.0, and 22.4.0 – are supported on some hosting servers. Clients with hosting on a server where the new versions have not yet been added can switch to a new Node.js version by contacting support through the control panel or by emailing support@cityhost.net.ua from their registered email.

Created domain configuration templates (presets)

Added DNS configuration presets for services in the control panel:

  • Google Search Console
  • Google Workspace
  • Google Sites
  • Facebook Business
  • Prom Marketplace

Presets are ready-made domain configuration templates for working with various marketing, analytics, or e-commerce services. They allow you to quickly and easily set up DNS records for the selected platforms.

If the required service is not on the list of presets, you can send your suggestions to support, and we will consider adding it.

Generated a new, more secure DKIM signature for mail

We enhanced mail security by generating a new 2048-bit DKIM signature, replacing the previous 1024-bit one.

  • The key is set for emails from hosting (php mail).
  • The key is set for the MX1 mail server (domain mail).
  • The key is added to the DNS template for redirecting to hosting/mail.

The old key has been updated for all clients using our NS servers; no action is required on your part.

If using third-party NS servers, you can manually update the key by copying and pasting it into the DKIM record field:

v=DKIM1; k=rsa; p=MIIBIjANBgkqhkiG9w0BAQEFAAOCAQ8AMIIBCgKCAQEAwEj/svltrUZlo2Ck4DKivrd5uHWeTTYrskJd3fXqmb4DYWlgc9v5fitqYcB20LRz2B+4QOVGmptyuc+OTrk7NrUe5L3oP1FvxePPfzPHmSMtKY4NFKQmcUjGaR8o0St2fS5GshpFHdiCdsl9UvS4B6llGMx5muowlW5W66ZAHkzTIapGo0PuaRXrb5eQ0SF3zimdT6reKb/Xtv1Qq4Zen4hM6zsEbGs5OoqmAfpMjQoc/8Sj5J4Qc1e7kVWi95EOsTTzwIiIl36l/ZrxmDJ7oUtp8BdnMNWmj/lh04TZDwQlao9EKI1ttbWqOqReHBMdCOIkisqyc2vwf8A7pl474QIDAQAB

Implemented search in the file manager

The file manager now allows searching by file name or content. This enables you to find any file in the selected directory and all its subdirectories.

Simplified the process of enabling and disabling CRON tasks

Sometimes you may need to quickly disable CRON tasks and then re-enable them. We simplified this process by adding a toggle switch in the control panel.

This need may arise when updating the system, implementing new functionality, fixing project errors, etc.

Read more about quickly enabling/disabling CRON tasks here.

Created invoice templates for legal entities

When forming and paying an invoice from a legal entity, the system remembers all the organization's data and automatically saves the template.

During the next payment, the data is automatically pulled into the invoice, so you don't need to enter it again. If necessary, the information can be edited.

Added support for newer versions of operating systems for VPS

Two new versions of Linux OS — Fedora 39 and Fedora 40 — are available for virtual server users. They can be obtained both when ordering a virtual server and when reinstalling the OS version from the control panel.

Read the instructions on how to reinstall the operating system on VDS.

Improved the website backup restoration process

With this update, the system automatically creates a website on hosting when unpacking a backup (if the site was deleted) or a folder for it (if the site exists, but the folder was deleted).

This significantly simplifies the update procedure if the hosting was cleaned of files or files were accidentally deleted.

Read more about restoring a website from a backup here.

Added QR codes for convenient payment and authentication

At the payment stage, you can use a QR code if you choose PrivatBank.

You can also scan a QR code when setting up two-factor authentication – an additional method to protect your account from unauthorized access.

Read the instructions for connecting two-step authentication.

Both QR codes act as alternative methods and are added for convenience, but you can choose the usual methods – clicking the link button (PrivatBank) or entering the key (for 2FA).

We always consider your feedback and suggestions when updating. If you have proposals that can help us improve, send them to support. You can also fill out this form to share your impressions of working with Cityhost.
