Cityhost November 2024 Update

new

The Cityhost team continues to update the system and modernize the server park to enhance the quality of our services. Additionally, we regularly add new features and tools at the request of our users.

Implemented the Ability to Transfer Sites Between Accounts

Clients can now transfer not only domains, hosting, and servers between accounts but also individual websites.

To transfer a site to another account, select HOSTING 2.0 from the menu on the left, click the "Management" tab and the "Site Transfer" button.

Ongoing Modernization of Hosting Servers

We are migrating all our hosting servers to newer, more powerful machines. Along with hardware upgrades, we’re improving migration algorithms so clients barely notice the move, and websites continue running smoothly. We aim to complete this migration by New Year’s, ensuring all hosting services run on servers with better performance, reliability, and faster NVMe drives.

Enhanced Email Security on Servers

After receiving reports from users about scam emails claiming "service payments are due," we strengthened the email filtering policy on Cityhost servers to reduce potential spam. The DMARC policy was changed to Quarantine, redirecting suspicious emails to the spam folder.

Introduced Ukrainian Default Version for Licensed Windows Server OS

As an official Windows partner, Cityhost supplies licensed operating systems for servers. Now users will receive servers with a Ukrainian-language version of Windows Server.

Increased the Number of Concurrent Processes for Hosting Users

The number of processes available for hosting has increased eightfold, enhancing site performance and stability. This is particularly beneficial for users developing with Node.js, as script processing is faster and server resource load is reduced.

Changed the Placeholder on Hosting from .php to .html

Previously, a PHP format placeholder was automatically created when setting up a new site, which caused issues with index.html-based sites that required manual deletion of the placeholder. After user feedback, we changed the placeholder format to .html, so PHP sites are now visible immediately without deleting the placeholder.

Fully automated the process of installing virtual servers on Linux

Virtual server configuration is now automatic 100%, with the system setting up the OS, disk space, memory, and control panel based on the client’s selection. From the moment you pay for the rent, the VPS server will be ready for work in an average of 10 minutes — this is 12 times faster than before! This feature reduces setup time and allows our specialists to focus on new tasks. This function is available exclusively for Linux servers.

Added Support for IonCube Loader for PHP Version 8.3

IonCube Loader enables running PHP scripts encrypted with the popular IonCube system, protecting PHP source code from unauthorized access, modification, or redistribution. The latest update of IonCube Loader now supports PHP 8.3.

Added Automatic Updates for phpMyAdmin

The phpMyAdmin version now automatically updates to the latest version — currently version 5.2.1.

Introduced a Modal Window Before Launching the Site Builder

Cityhost offers a free site builder to create pages from blocks. However, it’s advised to use this builder only if CMS is not installed. Now, users will see a warning modal window when launching the builder to avoid potential issues.
