The amount of spam in the world has decreased

According to an October report published by Kaspersky Lab, the percentage of spam content in email traffic for the 10th month of 2012 decreased by 4.5%. According to the organization, in the third quarter of the current year, this indicator decreased by 2.8% compared to the previous state of mailings. Thus, the tendency to decrease the amount of spam is obvious. Experts from "Kaspersky" also indicate a smaller share of dangerous emails - that is, those containing malicious attachments or links.

However, 68% of all email is still classified as spam. Ukrainian legislators (represented by People's Deputy V. Oliinyk) propose a bill on criminal liability for sending spam, which causes damage not only to equipment, but also to Internet users. The head of the department for combating cybercrime, M. Lytvynov, said that in order to take strict measures in the fight against spammers, changes should be made to the Criminal Code. According to the portal donbass.ua, the draft law proposed by V. Oliynyk stipulates a prison term of up to three years or a fine of UAH 17,000 to 34,000 as punishment for spam.
